Exotic! Strike a pose, Resort Fashion in Rajasthan

This is one of my favorite photos. I like the tunic with its green and blue patterns, the rich sequin beading. This Look has such an Indian feel, the architecture if definitely Mughal. My guess is, this location is probably somewhere  in Udaipur. I have a very similar tunic. See Me in Kuala Lumpur in my Indian inspired tunic soon.

    Enjoy,

    Jasmin

Catch the Star Dust at Kensington Palace

Summer 2013, Fashion Rules at Kensington Palace, London

Fashion Rules: Dress From the Royal Collections.

The Summer Exhibit at Kensington Palace 2013 offers a glimpse at Royal fashion, through different times, highlighting 3 different Royal personalities.

    The young Queen Elizabeth II

The style of a Queen. The show features regal and ceremonial gowns by designers Norman Hartnell and Hardy Amies. Crinoline style full skirts with a tight bustier, A-line style with elaborate embroidery was the regal Look in the 50s. In the 60s styles changed to a more body conscious column or shift silhouette. Many of the gowns for official visits are designed with a nod to the host country in style details, color and jewelry.

photo credit: see beloHRH Princess Margaret

The Queen’s sister was a Royal Princess with magic Star Dust surrounding her and a rebel heart. She lived a lifestyle of her own, stretching the rules of the palace. Her fashion style evolved from the traditional British conservative princess style, a formal Haute Couture Look of the 1950s, right along with British society. The 60s and 70s showed a more experimental design style more demonstrative of her changing life style.

    Diana, Princess of Wales

The unforgettable Royal bride of the early 1980s, who went from demure young “girl” to sexy and modern woman, before her untimely death in 1997. Her style evolution from young Royal wife to modern fashion Trend setter in later years also defined the fashion pulse of the moment, the late 80s and 90s.

This exhibition is an opportunity to see 3 portraits of very different Royal styles and a tour of the public rooms at Kensington Palace, with their whimsical modern artifacts set amidst a historical home.

This exhibition is skillfully curated by Cassie Davies-Strodder.

Summer 2013, The Coronation 60 Years Anniversary

photo credit: see below, photographer: Cecil Beaton

Summer 2013 Exhibit at Buckingham Palace:

    The Coronation 60 Years Anniversary

This Summer at Buckingham Palace, we can glimpse a glittering look back to another time. The Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in June 1953.

The exhibit takes us back to a time long ago. A slice from the past that puts the Present in perspective. We not only see The Queen as a young woman. This was a moment of beauty and glamour, just after the dark days of WW II, when the reality of daily life was still grim, hope for a modern future in Europe seemed to be a promise far too great to realize.

This is an opportunity to see the Coronation dress worn by The Queen, designed by Normal Hartnell, in its great splendour among the surroundings of the State rooms of Buckingham Palace.

Several objects from the day of the Coronation in 1953 and from The Queen's Coronation 1953 exhibition are on display.

Find Out more in Event to Attend!

    Enjoy,

    Jasmin

    La Dolce Vita a l'Italiana

Nothing says Resort Fashion Riviera style as this advertisement by Dolce & Gabbana.

The slight 50s style, makes me feel I want to be on a beach at the Amalfi coast. This photo has a nostalgic Glamour feeling. The Spring 2013 line by Dolce & Gabbana has a nostalgic 50s feel, a refined seductiveness, while at the same time a modern interpretation of classic patterns and style.

For the day time the Look is full skirts, or very figure hugging, flower patterns with lace accents, or bold stripes with baroque print elements.

The evening Look is often Leo print or sequins or wild patterns. Certainly a Look that puts a focus on your curves and make you feel sexy or playful. It just oozes a certain Joy for Life we seem to forget sometimes in our busy day to day existence.

    Enjoy,

    Jasmin
