Step into a magical space... Destination: Park Hyatt Aviara, Carlsbad, CA
Some time ago, my husband and I had the pleasure to stay at the gorgeous Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, California. This is a grand palace perched high atop a hillside with a view over the lagoon and the ocean in the distance. This was a special birthday gift, it was very special to be back to the area where we got married, at a friend's home, overlooking the ocean.
The hotel greeted us with its impressive architecture, sweeping panorama windows in the main building. The structure is similar to an Italian Palazzo high on a hillside, overlooking the Pacific ocean, built in the modern Spanish Colonial style, so prevalent in Southern California.
The Aviara, unlike an Aviary, is not a confined space, but expansive, it forms a space that makes you feel as if you stepped into a Paradise full of birds, plants, views of the ocean and the sky.
A display of orchids greeting the guests upon stepping into the palazzo.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by an abundant display of pink orchids in the hall.
Inside, the hotel made me think I had come to a fine Italian country home. Blond wood, low glass tables, comfortable chairs to sink into, the space invited us to sit down and have tea.
Yet when I looked up, I had a panoramic view of the ocean across the vast gardens with exotic foliage and plants, the fountain with large water drops dancing in the air.
Displays of orchids in different colors and shapes made me smile as I strolled along the corridors.
Large paintings on the walls set a different mood for each area, inviting me to contemplate… as if I was welcomed into a friend’s home and was able to discover his art collection.
My view when I was by the pool.
My lunch was perfect.
The VIP cabanas. No VIP in sight...
This exotic tree had enormous yellow blooms.
The smaller pool on the lower area. The next day, I had some time to relax. I enjoyed swimming in both pools, and sample some delicious food at the Al fresco dining area by the pool.
Gaze at the Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Reserve in the distance.
Then, I had an appointment at the SPA, on the lower floor of the main building.
The Spa is very inviting, mostly designed in black and white. Definitely a Must Do if you stay at the hotel.
Our stay at the hotel was over too soon, reality was calling…
Enjoy,
Jasmin
